VYBA is currently looking for the following positions:

Year Round Sailing coaches/ Instructor-

Venice Youth Boating Association is looking for enthusiastic and skilled Sailing Coaches. This position's principal responsibility is to teach sailing skills, sportsmanship, and water safety under the supervision of the Sailing Director in accordance with program guidelines. We are seeking coaches for our learn to sail program, Adventure Sail programs as well as for our C420, Open Skiff, Opti, and High School Sailing teams. Start dates can be flexible, we are seeking year round as well as summer 2023 coaches. Anyone interested can email Director@veniceyouthboating.org

Responsibilities:

1. Assisting the VYBA Sailing Director and Head Coach in maintaining a program that meets the standards outlined by the Venice Youth Boating Association and US Sailing.

2. Providing safe, consistent, and quality instruction both on and off the water

3. Developing and implementing lessons plans for a variety of skill levels and changing weather conditions.

4. Maintaining equipment and facilities and reporting any issues to the Head Coach

5. Following and enforcing safety protocols at all times.

6. Attending regattas and events with the team as necessary.

7. Providing a consistent, high level of coaching, leading assigned fleet to desired results, and grow fleet skill set throughout the sailing season

8. Operating vessels consistent with USCG standardsVenice

JOB REQUIREMENTS

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 18 years of age
Minimum 1 year of experience in an instructional capacity
Extensive Sailing Experience
Regatta experience, multiple one-design classes preferred
US Sailing Level 1 certification
USCG Approved CPR/AED/First Aid
NABSLA Approved Boating Safety certification
US or International Driver License
Able to pass a level 2 background check
Capable of operating safety boats
Capable of towing trailers locally to/from regattas
Capable of working independently with minimal supervision
Reliable and punctual, arriving to work on time, prepared for the day
Ability to provide and accept constructive feedback in a positive and productive manner
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Desire to be part of our team

This is a full-time or part-time position and pay is dependant on experience.

Seasonal Sailing Coaches for Summer Programs:

Venice Youth Boating Association is looking for enthusiastic and skilled Sailing Coaches. This position's principal responsibility is to teach sailing skills, sportsmanship, and water safety under the supervision of the Sailing Director in accordance with program guidelines. We are seeking coaches for our summer programs. Start date is in May and hours can be flexible. We run a 10 week sailing program with morning and afternoon sessions, Monday through Friday. Our classes range from our youngest Pollywogs (6-8) to our more advanced race clinics and adult sailing. Anyone interested can email Director@veniceyouthboating.org

Minimum 16 years with level 1 certification
Minimum 1 year of experience in an instructional capacity(volunteer or paid)
Sailing Experience
US Sailing Level 1 certification or higher
USCG Approved CPR/AED/First Aid

Able to pass a level 2 background check
Capable of operating safety boats
Capable of towing trailers locally to/from regattas
Capable of working independently with minimal supervision
